SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) is one of the oldest interfaces to physically connect the peripheral devices to the computer. Unlike other connectivity standards, "skazi" (Rus. pronunciation of an acronym) is designed to combine on the same bus have different type of internal and external devices: hard drives, tape drives, printers, scanners, drives, drives, etc. To communicate with the computer they use individual drivers for SCSI adapters.
Adapters SCSI work according to established protocols and sets of commands. Configuration commands include the common core of the team (mandatory), used for all types of devices, and optional (optional) and proprietary (vendor specific), applicable to certain categories of devices. However, all three classes of commands are designed to provide the highest level of compatibility with your PC.
There are 4 versions of the interface SCSInarrow bus SCSI-1, wide bus SCSI-2 fast bus SCSI- 3 and ultra bus SCSI-4. The first 8-bit bus is characterized by the presence of a 50-bit connector allows you to connect up to 8 devices simultaneously and provides data exchange speed up to 5 MB/sec. at a frequency of 5 MHz. The second 16-bit bus has at its disposal 68-bit connector, and data is transferred at a speed of 10 MB/sec. at a frequency of 5 MHz; the number of allowed connected devices can be up to 16.
Adapter SCSI-3 also offers 68-bit connector, but provides twice the data rate 20 MB/sec. at a frequency of 10 MHz. Finally, the 16-bit interface SCSI-4 reaches 40 MB/sec. when transmitting data at a frequency of 20 MHz. To improve the performance of the tyre and stability of operation it is recommended to download the drivers for SCSI adapters.
