MSI company is known by producing of effective hardware components and laptop series, now they decide to show their abilities in developing new products: they are storages SSD series. Such decision by the company is not surprising, as it has certain knowledge and position on the computer market.

New SSD will have commercial codename Reflex Series and will be available in three options of 60, 120 and 240 GB.

According to preliminary information, the drives provide maximum read / write speed at 560/525 MB / s for the flagship 240GB, 550/515 MB / s for 120 GB and 525/495 MB / s for 60 GB. The claimed amount of IO with 4 KB data blocks (IOPS), respectively, will be 90,000, 90,000 and 85,000.

According to the high performance, the success of the debut SSD MSI Reflex will entirely dependent on the stability of the firmware, as SandForce (with 32nm NAND …

PSD520 SSD-Drives from Transcend are Already in the Market

Transcend representatives has recently announced the launch of their new product 2.5-inch PSD520 SSD-drive. According to the company’s concept, PSD520 are destined to secure high performance showings as well as prolonged reliability. Such specifications were achieved due to the implementation of flash microchips with single-layer cell memory location (SLC). Those microchips are able to sustain up to a dozen times more rewriting cycles as compared with multi-layer cell microchips.

SLC microchips have an improved system of defects recovery which enables more efficient operation of the correction system. Moreover, SLC is distinguished by the lesser correlation of defects number per rewriting cycles; such peculiarity allows the correction system to identify the problem and to execute the recovery much faster. As a result, PSD520 drive manifests promising showings in start-up time, as well as the advanced system sensitivity and high data transfer rate which approximates up to 102 …

QUMO Enters SSD Market with a New High-End Series

QUMO, a Japanese manufacturer of various PC components, decided to enter the SSD market to expand its production line. Its new SSD series is going to compete for potential customers throughout the world with already established and renowned suppliers to this industry. The series comprises 4 models of 60GB, 120GB, 240GB, and 480GB capacity. All of them are based on SandForce SF-2281 controller and use MLC NAND flash-memory (synchronous). Those SSDs are also known to support SATA III high-speed interface.

The advantage of QUMO drives is primarily seen in their reduced power consumption and heat dissipation. The drives are equipped with a range of dedicated technologies that protect them from overloading, humidity, and other unfavorable impacts. All models promote for the quick 'cold' activation, while traditional HDDs require some time for the spindle spinning. The user receives a chance to get quick access to a random sector, without the necessity of moving the head. Stable data …
