Processorn är en viktig del av PC-hårdvara, bärbara datorer, mobila enheter, virtuella maskiner, nätverk, lagring, och programmable logic controller. Han är ansvarig för utförandet av hela systemet och förhållandet mellan dess olika komponenter i synnerhet.

Effektiviteten av processor beror på reglerna för produktion teknisk process, micro-architecture, CPU-frekvens, strömförbrukning och prestanda för computational kärnor.   • ett cache-minne. En modern PROCESSOR är utrustad med en höghastighets-cache-minne. Dess främsta uppgift är att lagra data som används ofta och instruktioner utan dröjsmål för att ge tillgång till dem. För att optimera driften av cache-minne svara på specifika drivrutiner för CPU;
  • energiförbrukningen. Nästan alla de senaste processorer är utrustade med energisparande mekanismer, samt skyddande funktioner. Den första konstruerad för att minimera energiförbrukningen under olika grader av belastning CPU och den andra är utformade för att skydda chip från överhettning vid högre spänningar/frekvenser genom att stänga av enheter vid maximal last eller enkelt.
  • buggfixar genom att uppdatera GUI - BIOS - Uppdateringen.
