Gigabyte Puts on Sale Motherboard GA-H61M-DS2 Model

Gigabyte has put on sale across a Japanese market its entry-level motherboard entitled GA-H61M-DS2 Rev.3. The board is developed in a micro-ATX form-factor and takes Intel H61 Express chipset as the basis. It is predestined for Socket LGA 1155 and all compatible with it CPU lines: Intel Celeron, Intel Pentium, Intel Core i3, i5, and i7. One of the most distinguishing features ascribed to this model is the employment of Ultra Durable 4 Classic components that protect all internal elements from such unfavorable impacts as humidity, voltage instability, high temperatures, and electrostatic discharge.



The other promising news is that Gigabyte offers two variations of GA-H61M-DS2 model with DVI/HDMI ports on the rear panel (GA-H61M-DS2 DVI and GA-H61M-DS2 HDMI correspondingly). The basic model does not have either of such interfaces but is still rich in various ports: a couple of PS/2, three standard audio slots, four USB 2.0 ports, one RJ-45, and a single D-Sub port.

Area Claims the Development of Four New Expansion Cards

Area, a Japanese hardware retail company, has voiced its intentions to release four new expansion cards with SATA III interface and USB 3.0 ports. The announced products are called to present additional expansion facilities to PC systems. According to the present-day data, the release will include four models: PE4U3E-3E1 Sport Quattro, D-EP34U3R-S3, SD-PEU3R-2T2IL, and S-PESA3ES2L.



The first model, codenamed PE4U3E-3E1 Sport Quattro, will be based on Etron EJ188 controller. It will accommodate four USB 3.0 ports, three of which are external and the other one – internal. This expansion card will employ PCI Express 2.0 x2 bus for the connection to the PC interface.


The second model, codenamed D-EP34U3R-S3, will operate under the supervision of Renesas D720202 controller. The model will include two external and two internal USB 3.0 ports. A new development called PaintPack is presented. This model is intended to implement the same idea as the technology of Ambilight, but allows to «light around» any computer monitor. A device called PaintPack is a simpler version in a small box with ten cable-trains, which have bright LEDs at the ends.
