Compact motherboards have become frequenters in the computer hardware market since the tendencies of the past years diligently dwindle to the diminution of devices in dimensions. Thus, mini-ITX boards are currently implemented in the layout of desk-size gadgets and walk with vigorous strides to the market penetration. Developers from Asus company have put their ambitions into practice and introduced a new mini-ITX motherboard F1A75-I Deluxe. This mini-board can boast a number of options which are absent even in some full-length motherboards and offers excellent performance facilities.
Asus F1A75-I Deluxe is distinguished by the suitability of framework. Irrespective of its compact dimensions, the localization of all components on the board is rather suitable. The user won’t find any difficulties with reaching the necessary sockets in order to enable the drives, as far as they are located on the board edge. The same convenience is observed with the access to the memory modules.
The chip, which is void of graphic core, is cooled down by the passive cooling system that provides sufficient heat removal power. At the same time, this chip involves all functional characteristics of the south bridge and supports high-speed SATA 3.0 ports. In this light, if the chip is intended to monitor the disk array, the user will have to ensure the additional blow-off in this area of the board.
The board is characterized by the implementation of integral chips instead of individual unipolar transistors. In addition, the mini-board is equipped with tantalum capacitors which have higher activity temperature and lower leakage. The back panel is destined for multi-purpose sockets and slots: Wi-Fi connection sockets, Bluetooth adapter, USB 3.0 and 2.0 sockets, a line of graphic ports, including HDMI, DVI and DisplayPort, and optical S/PDIF-Out slot. There is also a dedicated CMOS spill button which substitutes the unhandy jumper.
The initial delivery set of Asus F1A75-I Deluxe contains Wi-Fi antennas, a couple of SATA cables, and a remote-control station which is able to imitate the mouse, control the player or scroll the text. The major peculiarity of the remote-control station is that is can replace the keyboard if there’s such a need. It has a miniature keyboard on the back side which imitates the full-length device. Connection with PC is realized by means of a radio channel which is enabled due to a dedicated USB-adapter wired to any of the available ports; its range of action approximates ten meters.
Supply voltage stabilizer has got three phases for the main core power supply and a single phase is dedicated for the integrated north bridge. The scheme is localized on the reverse side of the motherboard.
Mini-ITX motherboard F1A75-I Deluxe is based on AMD A75 architecture and is able to support up to 16 GB of DDR3 RAM. Drives are connected with the board by means of four available SATA 3.0 ports, and a single eSATA port on the back panel.
Additional motherboard functionality is supported by the external controllers:
— network controller Realtek RTL8111E with the support of 10/100/1000 speeds;
— Wi-Fi controller in mini-PCIE-card format with the support of 802.11b/g/n;
— embedded audio (HDA-codec Realtek ALC892) and optical S/PDIF-Out;
— Bluetooth-adapter in the embedded USB format with the support of Bluetooth 2.1;
— BIOS presupposes automatic monitoring of processor and system fans. The user is able to choose different operational modes, such as Turbo, Silent or Standard. The monitoring is available only for four-contact fans.
Overclocking and Power Consumption
Asus F1A75-I Deluxe is notable for the accessibility of settings which enable the adjustment of voltage conversion frequency. The user is also able to establish the limits for trolling.
Power consumption is measured by the embedded electric-power meter and serves the index for the system as a whole. It should be noted that this mini-board is rather power-saving due to the integrated circuit for the processor. Such power consumption showings are more an exclusion than regularity for the products of the same line, taking into account the board density.
